Kitting in Highnix ERP
Overview
Kitting in Highnix ERP works like a simplified Bill of Materials (BOM). It allows users to group multiple items (components) into a single product (kit). This makes sales entry faster and more consistent, especially for products commonly sold as sets or bundles.
What is a Kit?
A Kit is a predefined group of components, each with a specific quantity. When you enter a Kit in a sales order, Highnix ERP will automatically break it down into all its components with the preset quantities.
For example:
- Kit Name: First Aid Set
- Components:
- Bandage Roll – 2 pcs
- Antiseptic Wipe – 5 pcs
- Scissors – 1 pc
When this kit is selected in a sales order, it will automatically expand into the 3 components with the correct quantities.
Creating a Kit
- Go to: Inventory Mgt > Maintenance > Kitting. You will enter the Sales Kits & Alias Codes Interface
- Click: Fill up the form, and click on Add New. On this page, you will create a new Kitting with the first component. Additional components can be added after the Kit is created.
- Alias/kit code: Give a Name to the new Kit.
- Component: This is the first component of this kit. More components can be added after the Kit is created.
- Description: Describe the kit. For example, First Aid Kit A.
- Category: Put this kit under the category to categorize it.
- Quantity: For example, put 1 Set
- Add Components – User can edit the kit and add more components.
- Update or Save the kit.
Using a Kit in Sales Order
- Go to: Sales > Sales Order Entry
- Enter the Kit Name in the product line.
- The system will automatically expand the kit into individual components based on the preset quantities.
- Proceed with the rest of the order as usual.
Key Points
- Kits are not stock items themselves – they are a way to simplify sales entry.
- All components in the kit must be stock items with sufficient inventory.
- Kit structure can be updated anytime, but existing orders will keep the original structure.
- Ideal for bundle promotions or ready-made sets.
